GRUMPY'S TOY Sep 14th, 08, 11:57 PM I am using a 1932 chevy 5 window coupe axle and springs with an unknown disc brake conversion. I have to figure out the shock set up and then install the motor so I can figure out the steering set up.

Should turn out great since your using a "coupe" axle:thumbsup:
SHIFTY4 Sep 15th, 08, 12:31 AM Should turn out great since your using a "coupe" axle:thumbsup:
<sigh> in THOSE days a "Coupe" was a Two Door... ask him if that year car had POSts
Thanks Jeremy, now i can appreciate yer work ;)
make sure ta keep me updated, i look forward to adding it to my GASSER collection
GRUMPY'S TOY Sep 15th, 08, 12:45 AM Well I am glad someone apreciates it! :o Most of my friends think I am CRAZY to not "RESTORE" the wagon. They just don't get my vision for the car!:noway: I have a car that is totally restored and I get nervous as heck when someone gets to close to it. With the wagon I can have a ton of fun and not care if it gets scratched or dented...cause now the new scratch or dent will add some character!:D
SHIFTY4 Sep 15th, 08, 12:49 AM i felt the exact same way about my JollyRodder. NO worries when people got, not just close, but seemed to lay on it...
i almost died at the show on Saturday when i saw what i thought was a scratch on my fender that was to the steel. ended up bein' a foreign object that cleaned off with detail spray <Wheew !!!>
GRUMPY'S TOY Sep 15th, 08, 12:56 AM The cool thing is when I took the NOVA NUTCASE to the two shows MANY people were digging it! I over heard some people saying "What is this peice of JUNK doing here?" But then I also heard a LOT more people say "This this is the coolest car here!!!!!!!!!!" One guy at the Pardeeville show stopped me after I got my trophy and said "You know, you may have just started a new trend with that thing! Next year there will probably be like 12 cars just like yours." I said "We'll see next year. . . I hope so!!!!!"
SHIFTY4 Sep 15th, 08, 01:02 AM there's a car show at a different location in my area almost every weekend... a couple places actually frown on "RatRods". i personally think it's a shame. in so many cases i've seen where that RatRod took just as much, if not more, thought, money and work to keep the design/scheme/theme consistant than a traditional Muscle car so to speak. one show if you talk to the guys running it they say they wish they (the RatRods) wouldn't come... then i started showing up with my wagon and said "HI" to those same guys. the looks a person gets  HA !!! how do ya like me Now !!??? :D
stick to yer guns ;)
GRUMPY'S TOY Sep 15th, 08, 01:10 AM Will do!!!! I am always on the prowl for NEW... er OLD...er CRAPY parts to put on the car I have actually passed up on some things that were just TOO NICE! I mean we can't use a BRAND NEW set of valve covers on the motor :noway: We will gladly use the beat up slightly dented and rusty part you were going to throw away!!! :Dl:)
63gasser Sep 15th, 08, 06:57 PM That is going to/is one sweet ride sfa Chevy II are the best!
GRUMPY'S TOY Sep 16th, 08, 11:38 PM That is going to/is one sweet ride sfa Chevy II are the best!
Thanks, I really apreciate the comments! I have a machinist friend who is comming over Friday night to see my handy work. He is also going to brainstorm with me for some shock mount ideas,as well as suck some suds!:D:beers: He has not seen the wagon since I brought it home from NIGHTSHADES!:noway:
SHIFTY4 Sep 16th, 08, 11:42 PM i remember this old toy... sure liked it. the Gasser will, i'm sure, be just as cool ;)

GRUMPY'S TOY Sep 16th, 08, 11:54 PM I sure MISS that car! I found out the guy who has it is thinking about selling it! He tried to stuff a BBC into it with the stock front clip! He wanted something different. . .he got as far as pullng the SBC that was in it and setting the BBC in and that was about it. He peeled ALL of the decals off and removed the rubber mat and installed carpet. He also installed a heater and a radio. He called me and asked me where the hole in the fender was for the antenna, I told him it was a heater/radio delete car. . . there was NO hole for the antenna! I THINK he MAYBE drove it 10 miles before he took it apart!
SHIFTY4 Sep 16th, 08, 11:56 PM my opinion only... he screwed up the car doin' what he did :(
GRUMPY'S TOY Sep 16th, 08, 11:58 PM my opinion only... he screwed up the car doin' what he did :(

GRUMPY'S TOY Sep 17th, 08, 12:00 AM Talked to a buddy of mine tonight and he said he has a set of MAGNESIUM SLOTS that are pitted. He said they are not nice enough to put on his car . . . but they would be perfect for the longroof!http://www.stevesnovasite.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gifhttp://www.stevesnovasite.com/images/yes.gif Price sounded CHEAP!!!! http://www.stevesnovasite.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif :hurray:
SHIFTY4 Sep 17th, 08, 12:09 AM hmmmm... ya know i have/had a link that was very informative for restoration of magnesium wheels... not RESTORING but making usable again... i'll look and see if i can find it for ya. it might come in use to ya ;) i dunno if it's somewhere at the JR site. it might be in my "other" files. i'll look tonight/tomorrow (?) and see if i can find it for ya.
GRUMPY'S TOY Sep 18th, 08, 12:23 AM He said the rims are useable but they are not "SHOW" quality. At least for HIS show car!:D
SHIFTY4 Sep 18th, 08, 02:02 AM well, i've gone through the JR site and one of my saved collections and haven't found it. i have one more collections of links to go through.

SHIFTY4 Mar 22nd, 09, 12:25 AM don't take this wrong... but i'm not comfortable seeing the pitman stud so long with that heim on it. i think the stud'll break...
GRUMPY'S TOY Mar 22nd, 09, 12:29 AM That is just for the mock up. The drag link and tie rod are 1/2" electrical conduit. I am going to make a spacer out of DOM tube to shim the heim where I need it. and then have it TIG welded to the pitman arm and the steering arm.
SHIFTY4 Mar 22nd, 09, 12:34 AM OH. OK... and here i just saved the image, opened into paint, marked it up ta show ya then got bumped out of my browser... OK so i shouldn't be alarmed with what yer doin' ;)
OK gotcha
GRUMPY'S TOY Apr 6th, 09, 05:55 PM No new pics to add YET! I have been very sick the last two weeks but I am on the mend. I did get some bad news over the weekend though, my good friend Ron Morton who has been helping me out with this build was tragically killed in an accident on Friday night. R.I.P. Ron! You will be missed! Ron was the person who would stop and help ANYONE on the side of the road if you were broke down. He would try and fix the problem or call for a tow. Heck I think he even went to the parts store to pick up a part for someone who was broke down on the interstate. He never asked for anything in return or complained if something took longer than it should. He was truly a good samaritan and I will miss him greatly.
Jeremy
David_H Apr 6th, 09, 07:18 PM Sorry to hear that RIP Ron.
GRUMPY'S TOY Apr 7th, 09, 12:31 AM Here is a link to the news story. http://www.madison.com/wsj/mad/latest/445812
They didn't get the story exactly right, he did have the trailer supported by stands. Unfortunatly they were on blacktop and sank in enough to let the trailer slide off of them.
