Most of these cars are driven by the upper management types and after evaluation get crushed with maybe one being saved for the GM archives.

While walking around or local cruise in show last night I thought I was looking at a custom wagon, but was told it was a factory experimental that gort away. It was found in an estate sale and needed a total restoration. The owner knew what he had found and purchased it. I didn't see any pictures of it as found but the end result is absolutely stunning.

It is a 1966 Buick Sport wagon. It has the Vista Cruiser type roof but it is a factory built 2 door hardtop. Below is a photo and I apoligize for not having a better one. I forgot my camera and Mary's camera battery went dead just as I approached it. Hopefully the car will be there again and I'll be ready to take some photos. This photo doesn't do the car justice. The resolution was set low but it gives you an idea of how cool it looked.

GM used to make lots and lots of unique clay models, full size mock ups of suspension pieces and new engines (or at least a different perspective on heads for an old engine) that all belonged to GM and were never intended to leave the factory except for testing (Nevada had a nice test site, and folks like Henry "Smokey" Yunick, Bill "Grumpy" Jenkins, Dave Strickland, Warren Johnson and John Lingenfelter get to evaluate experimental concepts (like a four valve DOC head SBC, or a SOC hemi head for the SBC). If you too become famous and successful in the automotive world as a result of your endeavors in racing GM could be knocking on your door in the dead of night with a multi-page nondisclosure contract and some strange parts.

This includes a 1968 Z/28 automatic convertible (1 of 1) made for the VP in charge of marketing. Zora Arkus-Duntov's lightweight Corvette SS cars (15 commissioned less than 6 made) and other perks that executives get (though I never heard a rumor of Harvey Earl ever riding around in any of his creations).
