The '68 I bought came with a Richmond 6 speed but no driveshaft, do I need to look for a driveshaft out of a 4 speed car? Do auto's have a different driveshaft yoke? What other GM cars will the driveshaft be a direct fit?

Thanks,
Darrell

The 6 speed uses a TH400 yoke. You'll likely need to have the driveshaft made in a custom length or convert what you have as the total length is different with that trans.

The drive shaft out of a big car like an Olds 98 will have the correct yoke and 1330 series u-joint. Since it will be too long for your car it can be shortened to the proper length, which is a lot cheaper than having one made. the yoke on the differential end can be used and a conversion u-joint from 1330 - 1310to match your pinion yoke installed and then have the shaft balanced. If your anywhere around my area I have one sitting in the garage you can have for free.
