Hello All,
I’ve spent countless hours online trying to get an (approximate) answer to this question, but feel I’m no closer than when I started. I was hoping for an expert assist from your community if you’re willing to help (a potential buyer would be welcomed as well). Bottom line is that I have a ’66 SS I must part with. I’ve been in the US Air Force for 26 years now, and have never had the right combination of time, space, and money to restore this car. Mom & Dad just sold the house I grew up in, which is where I was keeping it, so I had to put it in storage. Being married with a 6 year-old, I’m having enough difficulty justifying keeping my other toy (’88 Mustang GT which I bought near new) that I must finally face the fact that this is a restoration that will never happen for me at least.
Anyway, here is what I have. It’s a ’66 Chevy II SS, 327/275 HP. I’m the second owner and have had it since 1980, which is the last time it was driven on the street. It is all original with 63K miles. The only part not original is the transmission (I borrowed that tranny for an Impala I had at the time when its unit went out). I do however have 3 4-speed Muncies (like original) for replacement/parts. I also have numerous new parts I bought for the restoration including both front fenders and rear quarters, virtually all exterior trim, and other misc. parts like floor pans, radiator support, dust shields, etc. I realize the parts cover a lot of ground themselves, but I do have an itemized list totaling about $1700 in early 1980s dollars, dealers cost. Also, all of the parts with only a couple of exceptions are original GM. The other factor I must mention is that it was driven in at least parts of 14 PA winters, so it does have some rust. Most of it appears to be surface (to me anyway), with the exception of the fenders which I bought replacements for as mentioned. It has been garaged since 1980 when I purchased it.
Sorry for the lack of brevity—I only intended to say enough to help in any estimates of value I may receive. I’d like to sell car & parts together, and am looking for a fair market value assessment. Thanks in advance for your help!
