I am buying a 496 for my 70 nova. The guy is giving me a set of bbc headers for a 78 camaro. Will I have any problem using these or does anyone have any suggestions on what will work?

I have a set of hooker competion headers for a 69 camaro on my bbc in a 73 and they fit perfect. but i am using 6cyl mounts and have a tall deck motor so that might change things.

First, your 1970 Nova is a first generation Camaro, and the headers are designed to fit a second generation Camaro. So that is a strike against there fitting. If you look in header books and note the model numbers you will see that not all headers are interchangeable. Do not give up just yet because if the tubes are small enough they may yet fit. If you look at those model numbers that fit the greatest number of chassis, you will note that they are a block hugger small tube design.

Large tube equal length competition headers are much more specific in their fitment. That is why John's Competition Hooker headers that he has in his 1973 Nova were designed to fit a 1969 Camaro which is exactly what is under his 1973 Nova's front end sheet metal. You need to find out who made the headers (there is a contingency tag on the headers if they are American made) that will identify them as to make and model. You can then look in a catalog or on-line to see if they will fit before you buy them.
