im wondering what size is a good size for a picture on this site i don't wanna load one thats too big and it takes 20min for it to load

640X480 is popular and fast to load. 1024 also works pretty good as our system will create a small clickable thumbnail for either size.

Under 100K is best for everyone to view and does not take very long. Typically photos on the site are around 60K which saves space and loads quick.

Also recommend storing photos or videos off site. That way you have only a line of html code (text) which takes up no room. You could have a high resolution photo for those with high speed, and a 72 dpi screen shot for those poor souls still using dial up.

i see benefits to using the site's host for uploading certain images.

when you use your own host as in Webshots, Photobucket etc sometimes as time goes by you may forget where the image is posted at or why you have it loaded (hosted) at that particular site... so you delete it. once that happens the site and members will then lose the image and possibly some very helpful information...

so in certain cases i like utilizing the host services that Team Nova provides. ;)
