Slide hammer, and buy new parts for what breaks or contact a lock smith to cut a new key from the key codes in the glove box.

I notice the tumblers face looks like its lobbed off.. are you able to turn the tumbler with a screw driver? or is the key a recent loss? (Tumbler has to be in RUN Position for removal)

The brass & Clip are the rod thats moved by the poly gear that sits behind the tumbler, which runs down the column and gets the juice flowing

ya i poped the face off the cylinder, I dont have a key so i dont know how to rotate the cylinder to get it out, so that brass piece has nothing to do with getting the ignition cylinder out?

OK! Look at the picture that you have. Where the turn signal switch screw goes in (at about 1 o clock) there are two slots to the left. You want the slot that is right next to the boss that a screw goes in to hold the turn signal switch ( in your picture it is cast over-which is common. I also noticed that there is a hair line crack in it, which is good) You will have to break thought the cast (in the slot- it will be fairly thin). Use a thin screw driver to break thought and when you do you will probably depress the clip on the tumbler that holds it in. If not keep working at it, you'll get it! I know for a fact you do not need a key! The square hole at the top center is a spring clip that holds the rack gear against the gear you are turning when you turn the tumbler to start your car. The electrical switch that starts your car is on top of the colunm under the dash. After you get the tumbler out, look in the hole.(you'll understand what i'm talking about.) You have to keep pulling on the tumbler while depressing the clip with a screwdriver. If you don't get it at first, try again(you'll get it). When you put it back together you'll have to line up the gear with the tumbler(look at the end of the tumbler that goes in the colunm first, you'll see what i'm talking about) The tumbler assembly can be in any position to remove it. Bye the way i'm looking at that part that you have in the picture right in front of me as I'm typing this( I can't look at your picture and type at the same time and I took the switch out of the one I have to make sure what slot it was again.
(been about two years since I did it)

exactly the way youngladd said it. that is also the procedure in gm shop manuals for this style column. you do not need the key.
