I hope that this is the right section??? Iam new so take it easy on me ;)O.K let try to make this as short as posssible. I bought a 1970 Nova off of a friend of a friend whos dad passed away. No one in the family can find the title for the car or the keys. So we go to get the VIN# off the car and you cant read it off the dash, so we try the door witch you can read it, we take it to the BMV and they said that its not right???? so My question is were is anoter spot that i can try to get the VIN# to try and get a title for this thing??? I have got the back seat out thinking that the build sheet might be their like in my 79z but nothing. If anyone has any idea that would be great
Thanks

I'm not sure what number you got off the door but the second vin number on the 3rd gen is under the heater blower cover. It will be a bear to get off with the car assembled. The VIN is stamped on the firewall in a 2 spots. What you will find is a partial vin. I believe from the "W" back
Here is a pic of my old '69. It shows what I'm talking about

Seems to me that you can look up from under the dash to where
the vin is and read it from the bottom from the imprinting. This
also will be hard to do but if I remember right it does show, backwards.
