I've had a lot of questions about my project, and the responses have been great. Now I have another issue - Engine mounts. My 383 sat to the right in the engine compartment, and I determined it was because I used BB perches to install it. Write it off to not knowing any better. I bought a set of SB perches to get it right and ran into more trouble. The engine mounts were narrower than the perches by about 1/8". The perches were supposed to be for Camaro and Nova SB engines. They have a width of about 2 5/8". Do I look for Camaro mounts or what? All things considered, I would rather go to solid mounts such as Moroso, but I'm not sure of what to get. Any help getting me going again will be much appreciated. Thanks again.

i'm just posting to ask for some clarifications... i'm assuming the mounts & perches are for a 3rd Genner, right ???
can we get the specific year Nova you're working on ???
here's some motor mount info from Autozone's online catalog:
1969 Chevy Nova, 350, motor mount, #2283 (interlocking style)
1970 #2142 (std)
1971, #2142 (std)
1972, #2283 (interlocking style)
1973, #2292 (Clamshell type)
1974, #2292 (Clamshell type)
i hope i helped in some small way,

There are TWO different mounts for small blocks. The engine mount you need is dependent on what frame stands you have. Go to energysuspension.com, they give a good description of the two different applications. I'm talking about 68-72. (your public profile says you own a 69) Big Block frame stands are different yet! (Big Block is in a different playing field)

There is one Moroso number that has a 2 5/8" width - 62530. It looks like I'll have to try that one before I do anything else. I could also go to Auto Zone and have them start pulling every Camaro mount they have. It's obvious that the perches I bought are not universal between Camora and Nova.

motor mounts can be weird. I have a 73 nova with a 427 and i used the 6cyl. frame mounts with stock bbc mounts on the motor. It works, and the motor sits low. I have about 1/4 inch clearance between my stock oil pan and crossmember.

Problem you are encountering is due to a mandated federal safety recall that occured in 1968. All SBC motor mounts (rubber vibration isolators) were identical from 1958 (when introduced) to 1968. Starting in 1969 the mounts had to be interlocking so GM changed the Chassis engine mount stands to accommodate the new engine mounts (this was only a stop gap measure as the final solution appeared in 1973 with the clam shell motor mount still in use today).
