hey wats up i have a 68 nova with a 307:) automatic colum shift trans the engine is original but ive been working on it so i ordered a pair of hedman headers with all the correct info and specs so i didnt think there would be any problems but there was the tubes were hitting the gear box its stock as well i needed about an inch of room so i exchanged them for a pair of flowtechs....same story. now they said that i would have to remove the linkage rod and swich over to a floor shift is there a way around it?

i'm presently having header issues with my car and the catalogs say OK but upon calling/e mailing and asking questions i've found there'd be issues with my specific application... so, best advice i can give is to make the phone calls or e mail and talk to the header manufacturer directly. don't rely on a catalog nor a race shop counterman reading the catalog as you can and will do the same thing.

i doubt this has been much help, but i tried... good luck to ya ;)

I've only known the big blocks to have interference issues with the linkage on a column shift.
I'm about to have clearance issues with mine and their .600 raised exhaust ports, but that will be fixed with a torch and hammer.
I would do what shifty says, talk directly to the manufacturer.

I had this same problem with my 69 nova 307 powerglide auto trans. I bought some sweet headers off ebay that said would fit cameros, chevelles, novas ect but when the time came to install the drivers side it crashed straight into the linkage:confused: I have since got hugger headers for my baby that go down from the heads then out to the exhaust (not angled from the heads) to get around the link. just shop around and you'll find some, i know the paddock carries them.Hope this helps

not sure if there's any differance as far as engine bay but i have a 72 with a 350 and a set of hooker competition headers from a 67 chevelle i have no linkage problems and no ground clearance issues the only thing is the driver side header just touches the steering box there's actually enough room to slide a piece of paper through and the motor torques the opposite way for 3 years ive had no problems not even an exhaust leak good luck
