I'm looking at buying a 67 nova SS the car is a non post hardtop but the vin starts out 118117xxxxxx, according to the vin 117 should be a post car if my research is correct. Right?? I hate to spend big $$ and someone switched the tags..
Thanks!!

I've seen the chart but the 11 code for 2dr sedan, doesnt that mean its a post car?? were if it was a non post car it should be a 37.
The car I'm looking at is a 118(11)7 but does not have a post.

the VIN always take precedence over the Cowl tag...
the cowl tag may say V8 whereas the VIN says 6 cylinder... that'd i'd not be concerned with as that's how most of them come from the factory (regarding the tags), that's where the VIN over rides the cowl... but if the VIN says Coupe and yer lookin' at a Sedan... now i'd be concerned ;)
any evidence at all the tag(s) have been tampered with ???

You are correct, it should be 118377 to be an SS, V8, hardtop

Rick,
11837 2-dr sport coupe V-8 SS
11737 2-dr. sport coupe six cylinder
11637 2-dr. sport coupe V-8
IF possible, please post the whole VIN tag and we will help you decode this dilemma...
