I have a 63 nova i purchased last year. Im still unsure what to do with it but I cannot find the cowl tag on it. The title and vin match and the car is a 1963 SS that came factory with a 283 powerglide combo and a heater delete. the car has black interior with bucket seats. i would like to know what the info on the trim tag has to say but it doesnt seem to be on the firewall where the blower motor would be in a heater car.
What are all the locations i can look to get numbers for stuff on this car?

hi friend,
the cowl tag is the only location that will have that info as far as i know.also,i don't think it's possible to have a 63 nova with "factory" 283,as this option wasn't available until 1964.even the SS model in 63 only had a 194cid. 6 cylinder.sorry to rain on your parade.no offense intended.

no raining on my parade. gm put out 63's that had the v8 option as they were late year models that they were checking fitment for the 64 model. not only does my title clearly show 8 cylinder, but another way to tell is if you have 5 lugs in the front instead of 4. the 4 and 6 cars came factory with 4 lugs, v8 had 5 lugs. my car is 5 lug. I talked to the guy that owned the Dick Harrel camaro funny car that was featured in Jefferson over the weekend. He said there wer several V8 cars that year but they were all late year cars. also in 62-63 you could get a dealer option V8 which included the Corvette 327.
would the dealer be able to change the title from 6 to 8 cylinder? if so then it may be a dealer optioned 63. oh and my car also has the dash clock and gauges, no idiot lights.
where else could i find a cowl tag or other numbers on the car
