I just bought a 1966 ss 327 nova. I was wondering what a car with the L79 option would have on it? I am a camaro guy and this being my first Nova I have relized it's kinda hard to find good info on Nova's.

Look here:

1966 L79 was rated at 350 hp with a hydraulic cam casting number 3863152 with specs of 0.477 lift 342° duration (advertised), 2.02" heads casting number 3890462 and aluminum high rise manifold casting number 3890490 equipped with a Holley four barrel and 11.0:1 pistons. If all of your date codes are correct (about two weeks or so before your build date) then you have a numbers matching hot rod. If not enjoy what you have anyway.

So the did all L79's come with 4 speeds?

Actually the standard transmission was a synchronized 3 speed. The 2:52 wide ratio or the 2:20 close ratio low gear 4 speed transmissions were extra options. IMO, the 350 h.p. Nova's, most of those buying the L-79, payed a little extra to get the 4 speed tranny? Too,not only did these have dual exhausts, but they came with resonators behind the mufflers, as well.
