View Full Version : Full trunkpans for 68-72 available soon I was told
raydium@verizon.net Apr 6th, 08, 11:08 AM I was told by a local sheetmetal dealer that by mid summer full trunk pans for the 68-72's that include the section that goes into the back seat area and the tank supports will be available . I REALLY need that part, Now I have to make a decision to hold off working on that area or forge ahead with just the smaller pieces and fabricate the rest.
Has anyone else heard that rumor or can verify this info.
Thanks
Ray
SHIFTY4 Apr 6th, 08, 12:16 PM Ray, i have a close friend who's a GoodMark distributor... i'll give him a call in a while and ask if they're available or when they'll be available and try and get back to ya asap.

raydium@verizon.net Apr 6th, 08, 02:51 PM Thanks guys
SHIFTY4 , if you can find out anything that would be great, it really changes my plans on how I was going to work on the car depending on the availability of the full trunk .
Thanks
Ray
SHIFTY4 Apr 6th, 08, 02:58 PM i just got off the phone with him... the date is "around" August.
i hope that doesn't screw up your plans too badly.
best of luck to ya,
Johnny

Knowing that it's a fact that it will be available, even if it's fall, I will work on the trunk forward part of the car and leave that part alone. The whole trunk tailpan part of my car is the worst part, my gas strap supports are gone. After sandblasting it's like swiss cheese in the whole trunk area. This is really good news. I really appreciate you checking for me.
Thanks
Ray
SHIFTY4 Apr 6th, 08, 04:21 PM no biggie, we're here ta help ;)
you can PM member "Nightshade" and ask him to quote ya on the part... he's the guy i contacted ;)
NIGHTSHADE Apr 6th, 08, 06:41 PM Not sure how far into the back seat area you need to go, but this probably WONT get you there. 70-72 not 68-72 (not sure of the difference, but I think it is in the shape of the bottom area).

BTW this will. And it's available now. 68-74.

69NovaSS Apr 6th, 08, 09:50 PM I believe the major difference is in the area of the spare tire hold down. In the '69 verson and I assume the '68 as well the area is not raised. In the '70 and up the area the hold down is attached is actually raised. Take a look at the front area of the trunk floor pan and you wil see a raised area on the inclinced area near the front. (pic below shows what I'm talking about) That is where the hold down goes. In the earlier version this area is not present. Like I said I BELIEVE this is the difference between the different model years. If I'm worng sorry :p

raydium@verizon.net Apr 7th, 08, 07:46 AM Thanks NIGHTSHADE
The section that 69NovaSS has circled is the part I was refering to that goes into/toward the back seat area. Mine is almost completly gone. My Nova is a 1970 so that works for me. What's the best way to find out when this part will be available. I would like to get it as soon as it's ready.
Thanks
Ray

Ray, I guess the only real way to get it asap would be to order it. Either for dropship or for will call (depending on where you order it from). That way it will ship (or be available for pick up) immediately upon availability.
Just sucks to have your money out there while waiting for a part to become available.
