I have a 72, or so I think, and the only VIN I can locate is on the door jam. It comes up as a 72. The vin on the dash is missing and the vin on the firewall is missing. The other owner before me gave me the black Body By Fisher slab saying the vin changed cuz it was registered in oregon when I bought it. I ran the body by fisher number and it came up as a blue 70 nova, but mine was originally green. I have an appointment with CHP so they can located another matching one. Are there any other easy places to find them? What should I do?

well on the firewall under the heater motor box will be 2 partial vin numbers stamped into the firewall. At least that is where the partial vins are normally stamped on a 3rd gen Nova. I've personally never seen one in the door jamb of a 3rd gen car but that is where they are on the 1st and 2nd gen cars. What does your car look like? DO you have any pics you can post?

I haven't taken any yet. Its a replacement vin I believe. Its a skinny long tab on the door jam that says replacement vin. I called CHP yesterday and they said other vins are located in areas that I wouldn't even think of looking. I'm just wondering why that body by fisher tab is from a blue 70 when mine was a green 72 lol.
