I am looking into buying a 70 L78 and want to make sure the numbers work out before I go to look. Here is the block casting number 3968854. The front pad reads T1010CK0 166929. The rearend code is CBT1024G2. He couldn't find the block date code. Those numbers seem to work out. I have pics of the broadcast sheet and the POP. These I don't know if they help me and am looking for some guidance. Also is the "Body Number" on the broadcast sheet supposed ti match the sequence number on the VIN?

my eyesight isn't the greatest but as i read the POP i see the 166929 (upside down & backwards) which matches the number you stated is on the block... that indicates to me it's correct for the car...

you might try NovaResource to decode the differential... the link can be found at JollyRodder.com (linked in my signature area) i think it might help you...

good luck !!!

Does this help? Looks legit to me... The body sequence number is different than the VIN. As long as the VIN and the number on the engine pad match, that's good.
