Chuck that is a great looking car. Can you give me sizes on your wheel and tire combo? Did you do any alterations to make them fit? Are you having any rubbing issues?

if i had a stock front suspension with how low it is i would probably say yes, there would be some rubbing.my upper arms allow me to run negative camber and it eliminates bump steer. normally the upper stock conrtol arms would cause the top of the tire to roll outwards while turning, that all gone now.

somebody back in the day cut the fender lips so if that didnt happen i would be rubbing a great deal in the back.

specs are:

front 18x8 with 5.5" bsp budnik shotguns on a 235/45 r18. rear 18x9 with 5.75" bsp on a 275/40 r18.

thanks for the kind words guys!

Thanks Chuck, one more question. Are you running a CPP front end? I really like that paint combo!

not to vendor bash, but thos front clips add up to be big money, ive got half into mine and it will perfrom better than those.

they typically use just a mustang II front end, which is better than our stock suspension but lets face it, they are meant for a mustang II..LOL

i called tci, heidt's and nobody could give me the overall reason to spend $4k on there suspension.

however i dont have a nice powder coated frame..lol

i didnt think ccp had a front end? i know tci just came out with one.

thanks for the paint props

I love the back ground. Pick out a little less clutter from the deciduous trees and add a US Route 66 sign and you have a great poster or magazine layout that will get you published.

Great looking car. So what suspension parts are you running on that car? I'm just getting into the planning phase of my '70 build and need to figure out what suspension parts to start buying.

There is nothing wrong with the stock front subframe, which is a way of saying the only advantage an aftermarket sub frame brings to the market is less weight because it is made of chromemoly tubing usually, and generally they are set up for rack and pinion steering which isn't better than the stock gear box only lighter. If you want to get a lighter car put it on a diet, but be warned it won't be a good street car there after.

On the other hand the steering geometry of the 1968-1974 Nova's is horrible compared to the wider track sub frame put under the 1975-'79 Novas. There are A-arms made of tube steel which when combined with taller spindles off of the "B-body" cars will correct the camber problems and toe in changes found due to the upper arms being too short from the factory (you can get them with additional positive caster as well). That coupled with a steering box off of a "B-body" metric car and you will improve your steering ratio and feed back. Once again be advised B-body parts are not directly interchangeable as the steering box will require a new rag joint and the B-body spindles are larger with larger bearings and ball joints so some reaming is required to fit (you use B-body rotors for front brakes). Taller springs and adjustable shocks and you can name your race and compete in it at that point.
