Knew about the article as I am a subscriber to MCR, but did not know of the posting on the other site. Just one small error in this article, that being the word "Original" just before owner at the end of the article. Actually there are 2 other 427's and 4 396 original Harrell prepared 68 Nova's that is known to exist. Total of 7 together, all from the original group of Gibb COPO's. Thought Geoff did a great job on not only this article, but the one on the 10 Nastyist Novas as well. A lot of Nova history is centered around this editorial. With that issue and the other yearly issue of Nova, done by Doug Marion, the Nova's got a lot of ink this month. SHIFTY4 Mar 27th, 08, 05:05 PM WOW, Very Nice !!! congrats on such a cool write up ;) Chevy454 Mar 27th, 08, 05:12 PM Congrats, Ray! Hey, you need to take a ride to Memphis with us some night, and watch the yellow car do it's thing...maybe you can help me get it to hook on the Polyglass! LOL!! copo-2 Mar 27th, 08, 05:31 PM Rob, Wouldn't know where to start in suggesting how to get more out the car on street tires. I, for one, am very impressed to see one turn in the bottom half of the 12's on street tires in a factory stock car. I have tried this only a few times, and find it too be very difficult to get a 60' time to be excited about. While traction for the entire length is important, that first 60' is crucial. Slicks are a lot easier to use on any track, now, maybe drag radials may be as good as the old compounds we ran back in the day? Chevy454 Mar 27th, 08, 05:48 PM ]now, maybe drag radials may be as good as the old compounds we ran back in the day? I would say at least *as good as*, if not better! Not only better tires, but track design & prep has progressed as well... Anyway, congrats again, Ray! 67pete Mar 28th, 08, 06:32 AM Can you run the old Atlas Bucron tires? Ah, those were the days..:) copo-2 Mar 28th, 08, 10:52 AM Can you run the old Atlas Bucron tires? Ah, those were the days..:) 67 Pete, I remember the local Standard Station keeping a selection of Atlas Bucrons for the local guys. They didn't last very well on the street, but provided many of us the best advantage in traction before M&H became so popular. I was looking at some old 8mm movies I made in the early 60's at an old abondened air base, of the weekly drag racing competition, there were hardly any slicks on any of the cars, but a lot of them did have the Bucrons you mention. The viewing of these movies brought back some memeories as they were handicapping the racers by walking off the marked spaces and using a flagman at both ends of the track. Yes, those were the fun days, running only for trophies. 1968MotionL88Nova Mar 28th, 08, 01:21 PM Hi Ray,Congrats on the article of your extremely special 68 ChevyIIMuch 427 Nova SS!! Thanks 1968MotionL88Nova, You, Tom W., and others, who own these 68 BB Nova's, who has worked and restored them, all deserve a lot of credit. NOS parts, especially, are hard to come by and are expensive since there were only about 4 months of the1968 model run left, when these were first introduced into the Nova. 1968MotionL88Nova Mar 31st, 08, 12:36 PM Ray thanks!!
