Hi everyone,

Can anyone tell me if there is any good reference material that I can
obtain to assist me in the restoration of a 1970 L/78 Nova? This is an
original car, but lost its drivetrain. I need to know about the L/78
engine components, transmission ( Muncie ) and all associates mounts,
brackets, fasteners, etc.. A good example in the Camaro world would the
Jerry MacNeish's Definitive books.

I am particularly looking for the correct engine casting numbers, carb #,
distributor, exhaust manifolds, pulleys, brackets, alternator, water pump,
bell housing, flywheel, Muncie, ........ You guys know the drill !

Hope someone can help.

I have a book called "Chevrolet by the numbers" by Alan L. Colvin. It contains all of the information that you are looking for.

Steve, if you're not a member of NNN you might want to join. Lots of knowledgable there. Also you can get help at Steve's nova site. The L78 in 70 was different than the 69. The intake was a low rise, and some had a very hard to find dual snorkle air cleaner. None had lower than a 3:55 rear gear, and an M20 was what you got unless you ordered a 21. Stock carb was a 780cfm dual feed vacum secondderies. Good luck, Schonye
