Can i fit a 26-10.5 on a 15x10 rim? Should I try 5 1/2" bs?
Thanks,
Jeremy

i think the best bet would be to measure your car for clearance and make sure the 15x10 wheel will fit before you worry as much about the tires... proper clearance/backspace required etc...

what year car are you asking about also ;)

welcome to Team Nova ;)

A 10.5 inch slick requires a 15" x 10" rim with out regard to back spacing. I would attempt to center the wheel with equal back spacing as in front to keep from biasing the tire to push the car in one direction or another. A tire that large will fit under a Nova but usually after it has been mini tubbed at least. Slick side walls are very thin. Any rubbing any where on any part of the sheet metal or suspension will rip the side-wall out in a single run. You really do not want to discover the joys of driving on a flat with a wrinkle wall slick and two skinny tires in the front with no traction. That is unless you want to test out your new ten point cage.

Sorry its for a "70. The tire is a MT ET Street. I think i am going to try a 15x8 with 5.5"bs. I was hoping to put it on a 10" rim to make it a little wider. Anybody know the metric conversion for a 26 10.5?
Thanks,
Jeremy

I think a 15x8 with 4.5" backspace will fit with either a 255/60/15 (27" tall) or a 275/50/15 (26" tall).

joe...is a stock width rear with drums under your car ? I've seen guys switch from drums to discs and the rotors set the wheels out more to create a situation like yours.

I am going to try a 15x8 with 5.5" bs that way if I had 2 I could space em out with spacers. I read that somebody had 275/60-15 on a 15x8 with 5.5" bs. That = a 28x10.75. Hope this helps. I have been looking all over trying to figure out what size rim to buy. I am buyin mail order so im tryin to get it right the first time. Jeremy

that is strange Joe. I have a 72' in our shop right now that we have done alotta work to over the years and it has 15x8 welds with 4-1/2" backspace and 255/60/15 M/T drag radials on it and there is almost a 1/2" clearance on the outer wheel trim

like I said...I can stick my index finger between tire and outer lip....going to do rear suspension and see what happens....I do know that I won't be able to put a 275/60 on the 8" rim and fit them under this car...I have heard that a 7" prostar with 4.5bs fits fine...

yup. the 7" rim sucks the side wall in a lil more. you could do the same thing with a 255 tire but the 8" wheel looks better IMO.

yes I agree totally that the 8 " rim looks better...once I get the new suspension in I will see which way to go....its just to bad a 5.5 bs...would hit the springs....

i put the 275/60/15 on my 72 with an 8" wheel and 5.5 backspace I rolled the lip more than i had to but the problem is in the inner wheel only have about 1/4 " 5.25 back space would be perfhttp://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh63/rj67bu/chevelle009.jpg not sure if I did this right if not let me know

275/60/15 bfg radial ta, 8" wheel 5.5 bs shock mount ok I have split mono's instead of multi not sure if this makes a differance but no interference. 5.25 would be perfect its hard to see but there is about a 1/4" inch between wheel well and tire sidewall. I also rolled my lip back to the spot welds and have more than enough clearance, I have a M/T275/60/15 on an 8" wheel with 4.5 bs and would have had to wheel lip off hope this helps, if anyone knows how to make the pictures smaller let me know thanks

then a 5.5 bs will fit...with a 275/60/15...anyone else running a 15x8 with 5.5 bs...I wish weld would make a prostar with a 5 " bs..I know that works...
