Hey guys I bought some "new" wheels for my 66 and I need to change something for them to work. I have attached pictures, is it better to buy long shank lug nuts or longer wheels studs. The washers are beveled for acorn nuts so I'm kinda confused on which way to go. Thanks for any advice.

I should mention the car is on jackstands, it doesn't really sit that high.:D

The studs are long enough you need nuts with a long shank to go thru the wheel onto the stud, but not so long they bottom out on the rotor or drum or end of the stud. It would be a good idea to also replace the washers if you can find the right size. Check the torque often as the unilug wheels have a tendancy to loosen up.

i agree with Philip but i also have a side comment if i may...

the function of the wheel stud is to hold the wheel tight and that's about it. the centering device built into a factory wheel and the hubs and axles of the car center the wheels... the wheels you're using, as a lot of aftermarket wheels do is to remove the centering area to fit numerous makes/models and tries to make up for it with offset washers and shanked lug nuts to not only hold the wheel on, but to center it too..

this, in my opinion is weaker than what the factory intended...

just a .02, not trying to offend on wheel choice or anything...

i wish ya the best ;)

You need ET lug nuts to go with the uni-lug slot. The wheel rides on the sholder of the nut which fills the hole in the mag. ET';s were one of the hottest mag wheels arouind back in the seventies but because of their unique mounting design (and high cost) they never caught on the way American's wheels did. The washers you have are designed for a Ford 4.5" wheel bolt patern. The Chevy patern for 4.75" has the hole in the washer at the end of the slot.

Since they have been out of business for a while I do not know where you can find what you need besides e-Bay. Though I believe another company has bought the E-T brand, I do not think they make the same hardware.

No offense taken. I bought these because I got a real good deal on them and the P.O. had them on a 66 Chevelle with just acorn lugnuts holding them in place. I can always resell them and move on to something else. I'm a fan of the old ralley wheels and can buy them new for $35 a wheel from a friend, maybe I'll do that.

Thanks for the input.
