I'm trying to properly install the rear seatback in my '72 SS after the previous owner screwed it up after installing a carpeted package tray (ick).

The bottom corners of the seatback have tabs pointing down that have oval holes punched in them. The floor pan has a tab tack welded to it that points forward. See the attached picture for a shot of these. I know that the seat tab is supposed to be placed over the floor pan tab. Is the floor pan tab supposed to be folded over the seat tab to retain the seat bottom? The Chevy assembly manual doesn't include this because it was a Fisher Body job.

THANKS

Thanks, Shifty4. Can't quite make out the image, though. Is that tab folded over or does it just poke through the seat tab?

THANKS

i thought the lower tab is a flat piece of "flap" so to speak that bends inside the seat loop, or frame... i'm not positive though. i'm blind and the pictures are as big as they are... sorry i wasn't able to assist you.

i'm sure someone will be along to answer your question ;)

The 2 outside ones have the metal tab that comes through them. These are just bent over to hold. The 2 in the middle have bolts with a large washer attached to hold the center down.

Thanks, 1quik69. Just the answer I needed. Got it done and took my daughter to the cruise last night!
