View Full Version : slick size + finding same in street tires
dgas Jan 26th, 08, 11:15 AM I have 9/30/15 Phoenix slicks on 15 x 9" Weld Prostars under my car now, I'd like to keep the same tires physical size to maintain the cars visible proportions and dulicate the slicks rpm range on the street, (givin that slicks "grow" ,its hard to say just how much that is), but at rest I'd like to keep the same front to rear bias and fill the wheel well as much as B4.I have room to go 2" wider in tire size, but no taller than 29-30" The closest I have found so far is the 275R6015 size. But they are 28" tall.

jays64II Jan 26th, 08, 03:30 PM a 295/65/15 M/T drag Radial is gonna be your closest fit.
BFG used to make a light truck T/A tire that was 285/70/15 that would be perfect but i think it was discontinued. Alotta street rod guys used to use that tire
Doug G Jan 26th, 08, 04:21 PM Your slicks are 13" wide x 30" tall so yes the 295/65 is close. You say you have 2" more room ? You could look at a 315x ?? also :D
Not on the subject but... your tag is just a white blur.... what you have on it, or did you white it out on the pic ? I would like something that does that too w/o editing every pic.

The flash did it on this car ,but my photo program has a blur tool that works for that. Thanks for the info , I have 2" more inches side to side that I can fill, I am topped out in Diameter tho.

Big Dave Jan 26th, 08, 09:03 PM I have heard tell there is a company on the web that sells a clear film that will cover your auto plate to make it appear as a whited out blob when used with flash cameras. They even guarantee it works with cameras at a high angle say on a light pole or telephone pole near traffic lights, day or night. :D

SHIFTY4 Jan 26th, 08, 09:07 PM there's a law against using that stuff here in California...

dgas Jan 27th, 08, 09:53 AM Nice car! what is the tread width of your 275/15's? i found a set of M/T's in the Jegs catalog that will probably fit well-
Mickey Thompson Sportsman Tire
29'' x 12.5'' -15''LT
but I have to check into the actual tread width. I find the tread width is usually wider than stated sizes. 30x 9"x 15 " in my slicks, but its actually 13".
jays64II Jan 27th, 08, 12:45 PM always go by the diameter and the section width for fitment purposes when comparing different type of tires.
rj67bu Jan 27th, 08, 01:23 PM with the tire on the car and 35psi the tread width is just under 9" the section w is 10 7/8 this tire is on an 8" rim with 5.5 bs the tire is almost the same as the mt 275/60 et street good luck and thanks guys for the picture help next time maybe I can make it fit the page:noway:
