I was hoping that someone might have experiences on what the max. tire size (height or circ.) that would safely fit under mi 1966 nova with stock 10 bolt rear. I currently have 235/60R/15's on the car but they are only 24" high. I would prefer a higher profile tubeless street slick type of tire if possible but will consider other options. I appreciate all of your help

Hey Richie, i have the same size on the back of my '64. i'm running 235's with 15x7 ralley's and they fit fine... but once i installed the rear discs they hit on the inner fenders due to the extra spacing/thickness of the rear rotors. i need to swap to a 4.5" backspaced wheel for clearance.

there's a tool that you can get from Summitt for measuring the opening/backspace etc of "your" car to ensure a proper fit... i've seen/heard of a lot of people where this wheel/tire fits here... but not there... seems there's enough discreptancies in our ChevyII's that when you get really close, they're not all created equal. so checking "your" car is really the best way to do it.

you might find that a mini-tub is needed to get the size tire/rim that you want to fit properly.

i hope more people can help you better than i have... just tryin' ta help...

be good !!!

From memory a G60-15 PolyGlass Goodyear tire on a 15x6 Chevy Rally wheels rubbed when I owned my 1967 Nova back in 1967-68. Scrubbed the raised white letters right off the tire, and turned them into white walls.

Try a 235/70R15 and a 7" wheel with 4" of back space. It should give you the height you want and still fit in the opening
