I am having wiper trouble with my Nova. The motor works and parks with the crank arm pointing to the left when viewed from behind (9 o'clock). When I attach the the transmission arms to it and turn it on, the crank arm starts downward and scrapes the cowl area. When it reaches the far right (still viewing from behind, 3 o'clock) it binds and stops. Any help with this is greatly appreciated.

Is this the stock wiper motor or the newer smaller pulse-intermittent wiper motor that some people use with a BBC install?

I'm gonna assume that it is the original type since it is very old. It has a label on it that is barely readable but I didn't write down the numbers. It appears to be the same size as all of the Camaro ones that I have dealt with.

I worked on this again last night with no luck. The wiper linkage appears to be correct. The problem seems to be that the wiper motor crank arm travels too far to the passenger side and binds before it reaches the 3 o'clock position. This should be the point that it starts to return to the drivers side (if that makes sense to anyone) but it can't because it has reached its physical limit.
Can someone tell me the correct length of the wiper motor crank arm and short wiper linkage arm (the one that attaches to the motor)?

I have a 72 ss and I have the same problem after taking the assembly off the motor .... I had a pivot come loose on a rainy day , the wiper arm fell off the the car landing on the road (thank god I didn't run over it). when I was fixing the pivot, I think I put the assembly back on wrong and mine does the same thing now it grinds no on the cowl. :mad:its hitting so hard it moves the motor on its mounts ...... you prob have the right linkage. just need to work on the arrangement of it. I could go try to take a pic of mine since I've figured mine out a while back :hurray:. later

Has it worked before and if so what have you changed recently? Are you sure it is the correct wiper motor?

The 68 -75 Nova, 68 - 75 Camaro and 71 - 75 Vega and Monza use the same wiper motor. Chevelles, and passenger all use different part numbers. Some of the shafts are centered in the housing and others are offset, but they all mount the same.

I did a little more research and starting in 70 the F body had two types of wiper motor, the one that fit Novas and the other with for the hidden or depressed wipers that was different

I would really appreciate some photos and measurements of the wiper components. The wiper motor was unplugged when I bought this car 3 months ago and now I know why. I have no idea if this is the original wiper motor but it is very old. I'll try to get the number from the label on the motor to see if anyone can decode it.
