I have heard that GM built some 1980 x bodies (rear drive) but only a few.
My old man raced a busch grandnational/sportsman '79 Nova at Daytona in 79 and 80 and he said they posted a 1000 dollar starting bonus to whoever brought a 1980 model x body and raced. He said he even saw one and they were very unattractive. Ugly gawty grill, wide trim on the front of the hood etc..I am looking to buy and build one knowing it would be quite rare to own. Comments? Possible vin to dissect..

I will up date this tomorrow with photos, but in my opinion the Buick Apollo is the best street fighter with the Pontiac Ventura coming in second. In both cases the block that is in these V-8 cars is neither a small block or a big block, as the used the same block for both (well nearly the Poncho tops out at 400 cid in factory trim but you can get more cubes in there).

The sweet deal with the Buick is it looks like you borrowed your mom's car and it can be sporting a 500+ horse 455 Buick Wildcat that looks just like the 270 horse stock 350 that you pulled out. No way to tell without CC'ing the motor what you brought with you.
