I have a 6 cylinder 250 1970 Nova project car that I am rebuilding. The previous owners removed the bench seat and replaced with buckets. The tranny is a 3 speed manual . It does not look like the steering column has been replaced. I expected a three on the tree, but this one has a floor shifter. It looks like they cut a new opening for the shifter but hard to tell what was original.
Question:
Did Nova's ( 1970 ) come with a floor shifter for the 3 speeds?
If so what were the console options that might have been installed.

I am replacing the 6 cylinder with a 350.
I want to either keep the 3 speed and put in a center console that is somewhat correct for the year.
OR
Replace with a 4 speed Muncie and put in a center console that is somewhat correct for the year.
Just do not know what the options are.

Thanks
Ray

I think there were 2 for the 4 speed. One with optional guages and one without. I am not sure if the floor mounted 3 speed had a console option. The Saginaw fully synchronized 3 speed unlike the the Saginaw 4 speed is a very stout transmission. It will take a considerable amount of power and abuse. When Gloryhound checks in he will have the best info on the consoles for you.
