I am looking at a Nova that has been in storage since 1985. Can anyone decode the numbers?

VIN - 114279W512085

There was a sheet under the back seat. Not really a build sheet.

Broadcast Block
SEQ - 017
MO. - 06
DAY - 07
STYLE - 11427

PLT OPT 16 - WRN

BODY NUMBER - 441060

Trim Block
TRIM COMB - 731

Exterior Paint Block
LWR- 63
TOP-UPR - 63

1st Card
Box 1 - A01
Box 2- A02
Box 3 - 284?
Box 4 - 78
Box 5 - M20
Box 6 - N10

What is this sheet? Is there somewhere to reference the meaning of the above?

The car has a big block, 12 bolt and 4 speed in it now. Has 396 badges on the front fenders.

Engine Stamped - T0117JA

Thanks!!

Denny

This is what I found real quickly on Novaresource.org

VIN - 114279W512085

1 = Chevy 14 = Nova V8 27 = 2 door sedan 9 = 1969 model year W = Willow Run, Mi (car was built there) 512085 = the 212085 Nova built in 1969

There was a sheet under the back seat. Not really a build sheet.

Broadcast Block
SEQ – 017 (Not sure)
MO. – 06 (Probably means June)
DAY – 07 (Probably the 7th)
STYLE – 11427 (relates to VIN)

PLT OPT 16 – WRN (Willow Run, MI where they built all 1969 Nova’s)

BODY NUMBER - 441060

Trim Block
TRIM COMB – 731 (Can not find this specific Number, but 751 would equal Black vinyl interior trim)

Exterior Paint Block
LWR- 63
TOP-UPR - 63

1st Card
Box 1 - A01 (Tinted glass all windows)
Box 2- A02 (Tinted glass windshield)
Box 3 - 284? (????)
Box 4 – 78 (????)
Box 5 - M20 (Four speed Manual tranny)
Box 6 - N10 (Dual Exhaust)

Engine Stamped - T0117JA (Can’t find this under 69 Nova stuff, but I think the JA is was used for the 402 BBC in 1970 trucks but not sure)

These are the JA engine codes. We can rule out the 283, 409 and the trucks with the TJA suffix. It narrows it down to the 2 in red. The date code is on the rear shelf of the block where the bellhousing bolts on. I believe that 'vette motor was a tripower.

Year Model Code Size HP Tranny Carb

1964 Chevelle JA 283 195 Manual 2 bbl
1969 Chevelle JA 396 325 Manual 4bbl
1969 Chevelle CJA 396/402 325 Manual 4bbl
1965 Chevrolet Passenger JA 409 400 Manual 4bbl
1967 Corvette JA 427 435 Manual
1972 Chevrolet Truck TJA 250 110 Manual 1bbl

1973 Chevrolet Truck TJA 350 155 T.H. 350-400 4bbl

1974 Chevrolet Truck TJA 350 160 Manual 4bbl

If it is the Corvette 427 then the car you are looking at could possibly be another dealerships attempt to supply a customer with a 427 duce that was using an engine they had on a shelf or something!

Double check that box #4...there might be an "L" in front of that 78...that changes the whole picture...the 731 is the standard black interior...sounds like you have a real car there...good luck.
