New to the forum. Got a young friend who has a '75 Nova Coupe he's bought a weatherstrip kit for the windows. Are there any specialty tools, supplies we need to get to do the job? Any insider tricks. ?? TIA!

Welcome Scott.
Which strips are you wanting info on? The door belt sealing strips or the run channel the glass rides on? Both are not to difficult to change and easier with the glass removed for the run channel or the stop removed to lower the glass out of the way for seals along the door edge. The Fisher Body manual has good info on this with nice photos; but we can guide you through it if you do not have the book.

Welcome to the board Scott. As to tools a "C"-clip remover to get the door handles off and a few Torx head screw drivers may come in handy! While you have access to the window registers be sure to lubricate them well as the grease dries up with time.

Sorry for the long delay Phil. I wanted to see if my young friend would persue the matter solo. & he did. Robby posted a ? last week about weatherstripping. That kind of took a back seat to another problem we're working on. Coolant leak in the cabin. He disconnected the inlet & outlet to the heater core & still has a leak at the core. Is there a 3rd line that goes from the block thru the firewall to the core?? TIA,

Nope in and out is all you have. It is just a small brass radiator. They usually develop leaks were the components are soldered together.

Scott the plastic heater box can contain a lot of coolant so even though you have stopped the leak you will have some residual coolant in the core and the plastic box. It will eventually dry up and stop dripping. You will want to clean it out reala well while it is disassmbled for the new core to eliminate the coolant "smell" when the heater is functional again.

Thanks for the reply. Heres's the head scratcher....The in & out are disconnected & the car still pukes steaming coolant into the cabin dripping down the right side of the tranny hump. (where the HC lives) It's acting like there's a 3rd line supplying coolant to the core, like a pressure relief or tranny cooling line. I've been under the car & can't find any other lines going thru the firewall. Buffaloed!

Scott drill a tiny hole in the bottom of the heater box at its lowest point and see if the coolant isn't just puddled inside. That box will hold a lot put a pan under it to catch it.
