Looking for some help on replacing the Dash/Insturment Bezel on my 1970 with Auto/Column Shift. I have a friend who has a 1969 Bezel willing to sell, but not sure if it is the same. Is there any difference at all between them?? Also, did Chevy build some 1970 SS models without the SS labeled steering wheel?? Thanks..

If one is idiot lights and other has guages the wiring will be different.

It may have been possible that the SS steering wheel trim was not installed, but I doubt it. Sometime over the last 37 years it may have been replaced due to damage or theft.

I just received my 1969 Nova SS and the dash carrier only has the speedo and fuel guage. The radio holes appear to have been cut as there is no way for the radio shafts to be bolted. I assume they are similar to the 1969 Camaro in that area. If I were to get a dash carrier with all guages instead of idiot lights, is the extra wiring available?

Be forwarned, I will most likely have a TON of questions as I start "refurbishing" my latest project.

I think the texture might be slightly different and you should be able to modify the dash to have the correct idiot lights in the right places. There are cups that hold things in place that should be able to be moved from one to the other. You might need a dremel and some time and care to do some minor cutting. Just make sure all the holes that hold the speedo inplace are good as otherwise these are very difficult if not impossible to replace.

Make sure your origional dash cluster isn't just missing the two metal cups that go into the circles for mounting the radio. As far as going with a full gauge dash cluster, in stock form all this means is the fuel gauge is replaced with a tach and then a center console is added with fuel, oil, water temp, and battery. Also a floor shift was always used in this configuration. A clock was available in either the idiot light package or the full gauge package, but was an added option. They do make a retro fit kit that allows you to keep your stock dash with speedo and fuel and adds a tach in the position that would have normally held a clock.

Thanks.
My car is a bench seat so I don't think I can add a console.

You would have to switch to bucket seats also or design a custom console to mount the gauges in and leave all your shifter linkage how it is!

Where could I find the metal cups to mount the radio?

Where could I find the metal cups to mount the radio?

Parts car or maybe a 1st gen Camaro parts dealer as the 69 uses the same cups and the Camaro tends to lead the industry in the most reproduction parts on the GM side of parts.

Thanks. I received my Nova parts catalog recently and did not see the radio "cups" in it. I guess I will need to crossreference everything with the Camaro catalog.

75 and 76 Nova also have the cups to retain the radio. I am not sure if the 77-79 does or not.

I'm gonna revive this old thread with a request. I believe that I need the two metal radio cups so that I can install the radio that I finally located. Anyone have some laying around or know where to get these?

I'm not sure if this Ebay seller is on the forum here.....but here are a couple of his listings.
One is for the radio cups.....still open.
The other is a dash bezel.......he restores them.
I purchased one two years ago from him and was well satisfied with it.
Hope this helps.
