I have a 72ss that has a dash clock that does not work, have not yet trouble shot it, just wondering if anyone might have a good start spot.

Dan the clock is spring driven with with a set of contact points that are used to wind the spring. The contact points are the usual problem, getting dirty or pitted and sometimes fusing together. Try cleaning the points and if you decide to oil the mechanism, only do the pivot points, not the gears.

If you decide to oil it I would look for the oil they used on the old crank up grand father clocks as I've heard it works best for precision movements like this. It is also realy close to the oil used on guns. If my clock didn't work I would consider upgrading to a quartz movement type. Their is a guy on Evil bay that does this and I think you can buy a conversion kit and do it your self. That is unless you like the tick tick of the old clocks!
