I just purchased a '70 Nova in PA. The car was just registered by the previous owner and the title is "in process at the DMV and is expected back any day." The Bill of Sale I had him create states the VIN and that the clear title will be delivered to me when he receives it from the PA DMV.
Here's where I get nervous... The body tag on the firewall appears to have a VIN# and it does NOT match the VIN# on the dash. The car actually has the original warranty card in the dash (still trying to get the protecto-o-plate...the previous owner thinks he has it) and it references the VIN on the firewall.
I have contacted the previous owner and he has stated that this is normal and the VIN on the dash does not match the firewall # on Novas (and he also said on Camaro's too). I am nervous as this is NOT the case on my '69 Firebird (they do match).
So before I have a heart attach, can anyone tell me if this is accurate (the body plate # not matching the VIN # on the dash)???
Thanks for your help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Phil
