In my opinion electric fans are only good for mounting auxiliary coolers out of the air flow (transmission and engine oil). To prove this theory I have to ask does the temperature go down when cruising or go up in traffic? If so the air being moved by the fan is not sufficient to cool the water in the radiator. If it has no effect you do not have a big enough radiator or the water pump is not moving the water through it fast enough to cool the system (wrong size pulley on the water pump or heaven forbid an electric water pump).
I run a 582 BBC and it never tops 190° F in Florida heat, using a Griffin 1.25 dual core aluminum radiator and a Edelbrock high volume water pump with stock seven blade fan and fan shroud controlled by a Flex-I-lite™ thermostatic fan clutch.

I guess the first thing I would do is make sure the gauge thats giving you the 210-220 reading is telling you the truth, or is it lying to you?

Hey Rick I am going to slide this over to the heating/cooling forum so it will get more exposure.

Sounds like an Air flow issue to me! It goes down when the cars movement is forcing air through the radiator, but goes up when the only air moving is that from the electric fans. You need more cfm of air movement through fans and such!

My point exactly. If it cools down at speed but heats up in traffic your fan is the problem and not the radiator or the gauge. You can not beat a mecahnical thermostaically controlled fan for moving air and saving on gas.

Rick I have had that happen but it was my ISP having mail delivery problems. When it occurred all my emails were multiples. If it is only Team Nova notifications try unsubsribing to this thread. The link is at the bottom of the emails you are recieving or you can do it in the control panel after you bring up the subscibed list. Let me know if that helps, if not we can have Al take a look at it.
