Wanting to tuck a wide slick under the fenders. What backspace and offset is required on a 1974 Nova?

how big a slick ? 28x10.5 go under on a 15x8 wheel with 4-1/2" backspace.

You will get a better bite with a 10" wide wheel, but you might need mini tubs for that. How serious are you about racing versus the cruising scene. Traction will require more than a wheel a tire fitment issue resolution.

On a 15x8 in. rim with 4.75 or 5 in. backspacing I couldent fit a 10.5 tire. The fender lip just barly was sitting on the edge of the tire, but a 10 in tire will fit mine just fine.

Check out the clearance on the backspacing .I have 3.75 b.s. on my 76 now and it looks as though I have a couple inches back there left . Use a tape measure with the old rims bolted on .You might get away with 5" b.s. on that 74.That would keep you away from the fenders.A 10" rim with a 5" b.s. would work perfect .
