I built a 70 nova with a screamin smallblock in it,i ran the car for a couple miles then blew out the muncie i had in it,i just rebuilt a th-350 reverse manual valve body unit,in the miste of all this i ordered up a set of cal-vert cal-tracs and split mono leaf springs,i want to get the best tire under the back that i can so i went with a 1" over stock with a 2" shackle in the back,it brought the car up high enuff that i can run a 29" tall tire with out any issues, but my main concern is to see what other people did to relocate their shock mounts,i need to move mine, for two reasons,1 the tire/rim combo i want to run with a 1" narrowed rearend will hit the shocks, also i simply don't have enuff travel to physically bolt the shock on,wich is a no no,because i need a certain amount of spring travel in the shock,i am just curios what other people have done to make their own mounts,if anyone has pictures that would be great too...Thanks!!-Dan:thumbsup:

While my Nova is going to a stock config I have torn apart and parted out 2 other 3rd gen Nova's. While neither of them had the shocks relocated they did have a sky jacker rear kit which had aluminum blocks that bolted to the origional shock mounting location and would add about 3" overall to the shock. I think I still have a pair of them at home, but I'm not sure when I will get home and be able to find out and take pictures of them so you would have a better idea of what I am talking about.

you can order a bar that runs in between the frame rails form CE and mount the the bottom of the shock to a slide-a-link set up...our the easiest thing to do would be just cut off the top shock sleeve, because thats the only place it will rub..koni and qa1 both sell a shock without a top sleeve.good luck

Ultimate solution is to mini tub it and bring the car back down to earth. There is an interesting article in this months Car Craft outlining the procedure using a DSE kit. I find it interesting that they supply multi-leaf springs with both kits but charge an extra $600 for the springs that lower the car 2" over stock ride height. Is that a supply and demand thing; or is there really that much "work" involved in de-arching springs?

I read that article, they did that on a camaro,i just don't want to have to cut up a nice car,its rock solid from arizona,i just want to test the waters,i know the car will hook up with the set up i have with a good tire under it,unless i dont have the shock travel i need....Dan

You can fit 29" tires under the car without it contacting the shocks. Careful measuring and getting the right backspacing on the wheels, along with "clearancing" the inner wheelhouse with the BFH mod :D works. We've put a 29.5 x 11.5 Hoosier Quick Time Pro DOT slick in a stock wheelhouse without relocating the shocks. I agree it will give you more space, if you move them though.

I think your missunderstanding me,i said i didn't want to cut up the car while installing a mini tube kit,the ce shock bar on the other hand just welds in (except u have to shorten it an 1" for it to fit on a nova) by the way i just received that shock bar today! i'll keep u guys posted on how it worked thanks---Dan
