Hello guys I am new to this Forum. I will be installing a 2007 LS2 with a 4L70E transmission into my Chevy 2 .My only concern is the headers. Because it is a California Car I am keeping the front sub frame and steering. Because they so far don,t sell any headers I might purchase the GM flanges then rework my original small bock headers to fit the LS engine. Is there any LS engines installed in original chassis Novas out there . If so please Email or post some pictures, Thank You Paul

First welcome to the board.
Second, what year Nova or sub frame are we talking about?
Third; I think you are talking abot a 4L60E or a 4L65E or a 4L80E because I have not heard of a 4L70E. (Same for the 4T60E and 4T80E were the T slands for transverse or front wheel drive)

Thanks Dave. The 4L70E is new for 2007 .It is from the 4L60,65E family. Stronger input and output shafts more clutch plates in the 3/4 clutch etc. I think it is only used in the Trailblazer SS and the Vortech Max 6.0 litre pickup option. The car is an original 1967 Nova with original suspension, It currently has 3.55 gears with a 12 bolt . the engine is a stock block 400 sbc with Edelbrock RPM package .front sump pan , Hooker 1 5/8 headers and Speed Demon 650 .etc.The transmission is a 4L60 (700R4) In street trim my best time is 12.71 @ 106 mph.

Depending on the position of the motor in the chassis and how you attach it (i.e. making frame mounts or using motor plates) you could probably use the shorty headers for the LS2 motor and you may have to notch the shock towers a lil bit.

My bigger concern is the oil pan. No one makes a rear sump pan for the LS2 motors to fit in a chevy II to clear the drag link. You could always put a rack in it up front and convert.

I purchased a New 2006 GTO (LS2)front sump pan compete that will fit with my frame and steering. My only real concern is what headers, I might buy the flange and a set of swap meet headers and play with.them when I am satisfied I,ll get a new set. I was hoping someone allready did it and it would save me some time. Thanks. Paul

I think I have seen only two LS-x family motors that have been put in a '66-'67 and both were with a Hiedt or similar non-stock front end (I think one of them even used a dropped tube chrome plated front axle, but it was two or three years ago). I do believe you are charting unfamiliar waters, wish you luck. You seem to have researched most of the bugs already so it should be an awesome ride when completed.

Thanks for the heads up on the 4L70E that info is new to me.

Hello Big Dave . I forgot one thing on the 4L70E it now has an input speed sensor in it so it can more acurately calculate gear ratio to control shift time, feel .Etc Before it only relied on Engine RPM and output speed . Which has to deal with torque converter slip. Now it can compare input shaft to output shaft RPM then modify pump presuure (clutch, band apply) to control the shift.

That is a smart transmission.
