was wondering if anyone could tell me where chevrolet (its workers) put the build sheets in the car, i'm currently getting a 1969 ss nova with a 396 4 speed engine, it is cortez silver with black vinyl top buckets and gauge package, is there any tell tale things to look for to find its originality?? does anyone have any pics to compare a SB heater box to a BB heater box??? what are the proper codes for the rear axle, any help would be appreciated, mike

Where did this car come from..??? Nova build sheets are normally in the rear seat cushions....but I have found some in front seats as well....other than docs, the best clue for originality would be the engine /vin stamp on the pass side front block pad....only SS cars came with the BB...L-34 or L78...rear axle codes can vary due to the wide choices available in 69..most L78's have 3.55 (BT code) some others(L34) might have the 3.31 which is BS code...check the pass side axle tube..front side fro assembly date and gear ratio...BB heater core outlets are left of center..nearer the pass fender....tach will show redline...5500 for L34..6000rpm for L78...
