While reading an automotive hobbyist publication I glanced at an advertisement for S.A.N. (SEMA Action Network). Most of you know SEMA as the Specialty Equipment Manufacturers Association. I took a little time, read the advert, visited the website. The website informed me of legislation currently in progress to control, change, and eliminate portions of my automotive hobby. Most of the items I had no knowledge of. Some of the items had already been lobbied and defeated, others not. Simple things like "you may not have a non-running vehicle parked on residential property". Other proposals are to make modifying vehicles illegal.

SAN's objective is to protect the interests of the automotive enthusiast/hobbyist. And, I'm sure, to protect their multi-million dollar market share of automotive aftermarket parts and supplies. Their site tells you exactly what is being proposed and what you can do to speak up. Right now too many of our rights and privileges are being modified in the interest of a few. If we don't speak up for ourselves, we will go unnoticed. You love cars... that's why you're on this webpage. I urge you to go to www.semasan.com (http://www.semasan.com/) and become a member. It costs nothing!

Speak up before local Car Shows, Cruise Nights, and Amateur Car Racing is a thing of the past!
Your grandchildren will thank you

I agree, these things don't happen overnight, they kinda creep in and before you know it several changes have been made and it's too late to do anything about it. Just ask folks who can't find places to rock crawl or ride dirtbikes and mudbog and play with dunebuggies.... If more of our elected officials had these cars or rode in them and knew how cool and fun they were, we might not have these problems. I say take a politician out for lunch in a 500 horse Nova.... I bet he will like it :D .

You guys here the report by the president of Toyota USA on NPR this morning. In his words everyone will be driving a hybrid because Hydrogen fuel (GM's solution) won't provide the cost effectiveness of the hybrid in the next twenty years. In his opinion gas powered automobiles are a thing of the past, and he is working with the government along with GM Ford and Chrysler to phase them out.
