I have 2 subframes. I was told one was a v8 subframe and the car is a 6cyl. they look the same to me. If I post pictures can someone tell me the difference.

My opinion is they both look like 6cyl.:mad:

the subframes are the same as far as i know and the mounts are different.

subframes are the same, the frame mounts[piece bolted in for the motor mount to bolt to] are the difference in the cars

It's just backwards from what the guy told us. He said the car was a V6 and he was giving us an extra V8 frame... but if I am reading you guys right, the frame in the car is a V8 and the spare is a V6.

We are trying to determine what frame is in the car, so we can figure out what the VIN is. We have the last 8 of the sequence from the hidden stamp... just need to figure out the first 5.

The sub frame for both V8 and L6 cars are the same. Gm never made seperate sub frames for either application. GM used different motor mounts for each application that bolt into the same location on the frame. You can buy either V8 or L6 mounts new with all the hardware.

I know the subframes are the same but the mounts bolted to the subframe are different. Thats why I showed pictures of the individual MOUNTs. Which mounts are 6cyl and which are v8?

There is not a V8 mount in any of those pictures....

I know. My wife posted that while I was at work. She thought inline 6s were truck engines (they actually were) and never put into cars while cars used V6s (and HUGE v6s in GMC Trucks...how about a 472 V6...Ill take one)
