I have a 72 Nova Im putting a trunk pan in and while I had the gas tank out I was going to replace it. Can I replace it with a 68-69 style and get rid of the evaporator canister to clean up under the hood or are there more to it than that as for as problems fueling up, fitment, etc. It looks like I have only 1 hose connected and the rest are not there. I live in a state that has no emmissions test.

The same tank can be used, just cap the vent port that goes to the cannister. You will find that when parked inside a garage without the cannister system your garage is going to get gas fumes in it. The cannister can be hidden and still operate giving you a cleaner underhood look. In 72 the factory also installed a vapor seperator system that had tubes that ran up vertical behind the back seat.
