My ignition switch is stuck and will not turn on with the key in. How can I fix it?

Probably worn out (pin tumblers not releasing due to being rounded and worn shorter). Only cure is a replacement lock cylinder with a new key. You can buy the whole thing with a new switch (no miles on it) or replace just the lock. If it were me I'd replace the hole thing.

Pete I agree with Dave but the biggest issue is going to be removing it. The tumbler needs to be removed before the bezel nut will come off. The procedure to remove the tumbler is to turn the lock to acc position and then stick a paper clip in the hole to release the button and turn past acc to remove tumbler. Unless the lock can be made to move it could be a problem. Try some lube in the hole and working the key back and forth gently.

Welcome to the board and let us know how this turns out.

I know it sounds silly, but make sure you are using the correct key before going to far along. If you are like I was in the past with a 66 Impala and a 63 impala keeping the keys all on one ring generally is not a good idea and this is from experience. I've learned with multiple old cars it is best to get key rings that ID what they go to. Also when dealing with replacement keys the trunk and ignition key might look the same... Not that I would make a mistake like that!:o
