The door and quarter window trim on my '72 Nova are badly in need of buffing to remove scratches and oxidation. Has anyone had any luck in getting this trim off without totally trashing it, and does it stand up to buffing?
Thanks for any and all information.

I've removed it from a couple cars. The hockey stick piece piece on the quarter window is held in place by screws under the weather stripping. The other pieces are clip on pieces. Several methods have worked for different people with this. Some people are lucky enough to be able to grab it with their hands and pull it in one direction or another and get it to unclip. Others have used channel locks with a rag inbetween them and the trim (don't clamp the channel locks down hard enough to crush). I personally used a small screw driver to get an edge just bearly bent up. Then I modified a 1 1/2" metal putty knife by rounding one corner. Use this end in the little lip you bent up. Once you get it started use a 2 oz hammer to tap the roounded end around the inner edge of the trim. Take your time make sure the edge of the putty knife is not sharp or it will start cutting into the trim.
