View Full Version : Does this sound correct
short shift Nov 4th, 09, 09:19 PM I was looking up info on my Nova on the Nova resource cowl tag decoder page and I was wondering if the color combo sounds correct. It's a 1963 SS and it sais that the color was Ermine white with a Tuxedo black top and the interior is Aqua. Does that sound like a normal color combo?
Philip Nov 4th, 09, 10:10 PM There was no such thing as normal back then. Any combination of options were available by checking the right box on the order form. Not just COPO cars, but any ordered car by customer or dealer request. I worked at a Chevy dealer in the late 60's; one day a 69 C-10 arrived on the transport. It was black and orange with an Aqua interior. I bet the sales manager $20 it would not sell in a month. He won, that truck was on the front lot less than 2 days and someone just had to have it. His comment as I paid him "there is an *** for every seat".

62 NovaWagon Nov 4th, 09, 10:26 PM The good ole days when you could buy a car the way "you wanted it" and only paid for what you wanted!..

Thanks for the info. I just thought that sounded like an odd color combo.
"there is an *** for every seat".
Thats so true.
Philip Nov 5th, 09, 10:58 PM The color combo of your car doesn't sound bad. What color is it now?
David_H Nov 6th, 09, 10:36 AM Look at the color combo on this thing people were just nuts in the sixties:eek:

The interior is still Aqua and the exterior is like a medium shade metallic blue. I will try to take some pictures of it tomorrow if it's not raining to bad.

That was ugly. Some of those color combos were horrible.
David_H Nov 7th, 09, 10:13 AM I guess maybe its a good thing they don't let the consumer order what ever they want anymore

No it isn't, actually it looks really nice if you like green. It has been said before and for the most part seems to be true, that green cars last forever. I have seen quite a few green Chevelle's, Nova's and Impala's that had close to 400k miles on them and still ran and looked good.

Only for those that are color blind or in the appliance repair business ;)

Yah F those fools........................;)
The green is not the problem its the dark green light green and brown interior come on thats just strange.
Philip Nov 7th, 09, 10:56 AM IMO the light green probably was darker and has faded over the years. The brown arm rest had to be replaced, even GM wouldn't let one go that way.
