View Full Version : Barn find
67 church Sep 15th, 09, 09:51 AM Here are some photos of a 63 wagon that we looked at and purchased. I will be the second owner. The original owner was in the service and had this car shipped to England while he was stationed there. He then returned to the states and spent some time in Portland Oregon, Texas and finally Ohio, it's final resting place. He gave this car to his son more than 18 years ago. The barn roof fell in around it allowing the elements to get to it.
Plans are to make it a family machine with an LS engine and suspension mods.

richietables Sep 15th, 09, 08:49 PM JR, what's a fawn dash? That some kinda color or something?
Chuck, that's an AWESOME car. My favorite kind of Nova, right there. And it's actually stuck in the mud! If you need somebody to lend a hand wrenching sometime, I can't be that far from you---
SHIFTY4 Sep 15th, 09, 09:05 PM yeah, i think it's "Fawn".

67 church Sep 16th, 09, 06:25 AM Rich if you are in Cleveland I am 50min east of you.
Well we have the interior taken out and found more bad news. What appeared to be a solid floor turned out to be more holes around the floor supports.

Big Dave Sep 16th, 09, 08:10 AM Not to shabby of a barn find, of course the barn needs a little work. Car is in better shape than the barn I think. Good luck and fun times getting her back on the road.

67 church Sep 19th, 09, 09:15 AM Thanks Dave we will definitely have a good time with things.
Well when it rains it pours................I get the 63 home and I get a call about our front end components. Turns out this guy cam across a clean 62 from Nevada.....................long story short it is in my driveway. The car was 10 miles the opposite way the first car was from my house. 2 available novas with in a 10 mile radius..............So I'm going to get on the clean car first for the family everyday driver. The 63 pictured above, I think I will fix the rust on the under side slap an LS with a 6speed in it, since it is a standard. Put all the rusty panels back on. It would be a crankn' sleeper with all the beautiful panels on her and a smokn' drive train.
JAYARTER Sep 20th, 09, 12:40 AM Greetings from Arizona
Just goes to prove....there are cars still hidden away Just got to look.
I found my 66 SS, 58 Chevy Sedan Delivery sitting in a side yard of a house with 10 fence and the house blocking it in..50 feet from the road
and I had gone there to look at 327 motor that was sitting on engine stand in the front room of the house. bought all three. Engine just installed in my Elcamino. sold Sedan Delivery, Still got SS..all orginal
with 230 six and 3 on the tree. best thing hardy any RUST!

richietables Sep 20th, 09, 11:25 AM I'm in Cleveland Heights-- You found two old Novas out there? No wonder... There's not a single barn in my town. I guess 100 years ago there would have been plenty. But no Novas in them yet...
Love to drive out and take a peek sometime!
Hey JR, I'm already tired of the old 283... You got a part number for the very rare 592 factory option? Other than the MPG's, I think it would be about the same, with maybe a little more power?
67 church Oct 3rd, 09, 12:02 AM Well the new 62 wagon is way cleaner than the 63 that I showed everyone in the beginning. So I assembled my "A" team to begin with getting the body ready for the media blaster.
