I think it looks like a nice car but really with out being there you can never tell.
I would check out every inch below the belt line and around the windshield real good for rust or bubbling paint. Then I would look for any signs of fixed damage under the hood and under it on the floor pan, if there is no rust or damage I think the price is fair but I would offer him a lower price and see what happens.
SHIFTY4 Aug 28th, 09, 11:19 AM i have to question it...
i'm not a Nova professor or anything but i thought all '63 Verts were SS cars... if they were then where's the console & floor shift on that car ?
Big Dave Aug 28th, 09, 11:38 AM I believe you could order the convertible with a standard four. The SS package was just a trim level I do not think it was required to get a convertible (a lot of my dad's generation didn't like racing or anything that got the heart pumping as most had seen all the excitement they could stand during WWII). And though I had my license to drive the car in 1963 I couldn't afford a new one (I was spending my money hot rodding mid fifty's iron). My first new car was a 1967 Chevy II two door sedan traded in my 1961 Corvair drop top Spyder on it.

SPARKY69 Aug 28th, 09, 12:32 PM well if you guys dont know ???? maybe i should get a karmin gia??
NOVABOB Aug 28th, 09, 02:40 PM Bill: I've recently sold both my 1963 Nova 400 convertibles after many years of ownership to buy my 65 Chevy II. One Red and one Blue. They were almost as nice as this one and both had the original bench seat, 6 cyl, 4 Lug 14" wheels, manual steering, Drum Brakes and AM radio. Both were 90% Rust Free. $16,900 is NOT out of line and with the upgraded Power Steering, Disc Brakes converted to 5 Lugs, I actually think this is a Good Buy. Both mine sold seperately last year for over $19,000 because the floors were super clean and NO body work was needed, plus the paint was excellent on both.
Look closely at the floor pans underneath as that will tell alot. If you can go inspect it, put it up on a lift. If you can't-PAY A PROFESSIONAL TO INSPECT IT AND SEND YOU A COMPLETE APPRAISAL. As for me, I would buy it immediately, as I still like convertibles, on the condition of a complete inspection within 5 days..
Other than that...I think it's a beauty and worth the $16,900 he's asking.
Let us know how you make out...

NOVABOB Aug 28th, 09, 02:59 PM Bill: Just another bit of info about the 63 Verts. I read that the SS that your looking to buy could be bought with the Auto column shifter instead of on the floor but then GM would then give you a bench seat-NOT buckets. I think he changed out the bench to buckets. My two Nova 400's that I sold only came with a bench and column shifter. Anyway-I still think it's a deal if there's NO rust issues...

David_H Aug 30th, 09, 11:49 AM Let me say it like this If I waned a ver. and I was going to buy a real nice one rather than build one I would be all over that thing as long as it checks out rust wise:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:
SPARKY69 Aug 30th, 09, 12:13 PM Let me say it like this If I waned a ver. and I was going to buy a real nice one rather than build one I would be all over that thing as long as it checks out rust wise:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:thanks ...!!:hurray:IM HAVING A LITTLE TROUBLE GETTING IN TOUCH WITH THE GUY??
NOVABOB Aug 30th, 09, 03:44 PM Bill: I see it hasn't sold on E-Bay yet so you still have a shot at it. Here's my 2 cents why it didn't sell yet. It's White, plain and simple. White doesn't stand out..!!
The Red interior and white top is a perfect match. If the Nova was Red on Red it would have been gone in a heartbeat. Don't get me wrong since I happen to like White Novas, especially with Red interiors but most guys today don't repaint there Novas White. I looked everything over again closely on each picture and this is a home run at the full asking price. I don't know how far you are from the seller but I think it would warrant a drive or flight out to see it first thing tomorrow morning to inspect it, drive it and mabey finalize the deal. It's up to you but I've found out that if you don't act immediately on something this nice, you'll regret it for years to come...Just my take on it..If I didn't have my 65 Chevy II that I love, I'de be all over this one, for sure....Go get em Bill....!!
Bob in SUNNY CT for a change..!
SPARKY69 Aug 31st, 09, 07:16 AM Thanks bob ,im working on it! If i can get him to send me some pics of the underside i would take a drive with a trailer! He is not that far at all!..i kinda like the white with the red int..
